Although JOE has played many UMPC, Netbook and MID, I have no UMPC or Netbook with me. I have designed to get Gigabyte M912V (due to its'N270 processor, 160Gb HD, touch screen and low cost) plus one aigo MIDP8860 (due to its' ultra-low power drain Z500 processor and portrtablesize)! However, owning to the sudden apppear of Fujitsu Lifebook U2010,JOE has changed my mind eventually! U2010 combined most of the benefitsof M912V and P8860 with portable size, touch screen, 60Gb HD,convertable form factor and most importantly the reasonable powerdrink! In my perliminary test, you may get ~3hours on its standard battery playing movie in brightest backlight and WiFi ON! This is what JOE's need and cannot be revealed on Sharp Willcom D4 UMPC and Kohjinsha SC3 running in same Intel Atom Z5XX series! (actually P8860does much better power drain control, but its 9.9Wh battery could onlyprovide 2.5hrs Wifi browsing - i.e. 4W drain!!)
Appearance
As mentioned before, U2010 gives me a portable size. It weights only 610g and size are very small.The general appearance is resemblance to U1010, size and weight almost the same.

From the left-side, aparts from the position different on the micand earphone jack, there are one USB port and Kensington lock more.The SD card slot and volumn control are still in position but the powerjack is moved to the right-side.
In th right-hand side, except the Power button, CF-slot and the powerjack, one more hardware WiFi/BT switch button is added which is notfound in U1010.Both the USB and WiFi/BT switch button are a good improvement! You mayfind the WiFi/BT button is very useful!.
In side the body, the six function keys, cap-lock LED, Fingerprint sensor and Webcam (upgraded to 1.3M pixel) are all here.The unique keyboard LED lamps are still here but I think the brightness is not enough.
Keyboard
Keyboard of U2010 has a great improvement compared toU1010. There is six-row 68 keys keyboard and is much better than thefive-row 56 keys U1010.The best improvements are the "Tab", "Delete" and right "Shift" keysare coming back which I like the most! (but I would appeciate more ifthe backspace key was put back to the right-hand corner)Each key has a 11mm in length in touch area, but ~15mm in key-to-keypitch.
Not large enough but is possible for typing using two fingers.Thumbs typing? Not Really!! As the standard width of U2010 is 170mm andhence it is not easy to hold it for thumbs typing!
Screen
Screen resolution is upgraded from 1024 x 600 in U1010 to1280 x 800 in U2010. It is not just the resolution, the viewing angleis also greatly improved! The viewing angle of U1010, as I remebered,is very narrow from 12 and 6 o' clock direction. But now, you may findthe viewing angle of U2010 is very wide from all angle which isdefinitely a great improvement!!My friend told me the screen of U2010 is a bit yellowish. As my eyesare not very sensitive to color, I could say....yes there is a littleyellowish but is not sensitive to me.
General Performance on Vista
Fujitsu Lifebook U2010 comes withWindows Vista Home Premium, although there is only 1Gb RAM (onboard,non upgradeable), the general performance on Vista is acceptable.Surfing using IE 7 is in normal speed using Wifi. I have connected to the 3.6Mb 3.5G HSDPA Smartphone (HTC TyTN II) via bluetooth to surf netyesterday. The speed is acceptable and it is a real mobile internet surfing device! I am enjoy it!
Preliminary Battery Life
As I mentioned before, the battery life is really strong!! 2-cell Li-ion 7.2V 2900mAh could give me ~3 hours WiFi surfing!
And I have run a video playback test with brightness set to the highest and WiFi on (connected to router), the battery life is ~3 hours.
This is just a preliminary test, more detail test will be provided later.
Intel Atom Z530 1.6GHz Performance!!
I will come back to this later! But Windows Experience Index is 2.8.
